ATA102 Principles of Atatürk and History of Turkish Revolution I (2+0) 2.0

Declaration of Turkish Republic. Abolition of the Caliphate and the Tekkes. Reforms: Social, cultural, and educational reforms. Developments in National Economy and democracy. International treaties signed by Turkish Republic, Turkish foreign policy. Atatürk's Fundamental Principles: Republicanism, nationalism. populism, etatism, secularism, and revolutionism.

 

KMY175 General Chemistry (2+0) 2.0

Basics of chemistry, recycling and mathematics of chemistry, the role of the energy in chemical reactions, the importance of molecular structure, properities of water, acids and bases, acid rain, water pollution, behavior of gases, air pollution, the energy of the sun and opportunities of chemical energy, food chemistry, noble metal chemistry, principles of geochemistry.

 

MAT175 Mathematics (2+0) 2.0

Functions and graphics, limit and contiunity, derivative of functions, principles of differential, derivative of trigonometric function.

 

TAT101 Basic Art Training I (3+2) 4.0

Basic information about drawing, helping students to improve their ability and talent,   serching about qualification anf effects of materials and supplies, plastic research and practice of basic art elements for jewelry design. Students work on organic and inorganic materials and that helps them the vision and way of thinking that a designer needs.

 

TAT103 Mythology and Ichnographia (2+0) 2.0

Research and endorse world’s different cultures’ myhologycal and ichnographic values.

Basic computer information, operating system and hardware. Access to information sources, Word processor and worksheet applications.

 

TAT104 Basic Art Training II (3+2) 4.0

Students studies on 3D pattern and compositions. They learn information about colours, shape and ground releation, symmetrical-dissymmetrical balances, characterisctic features, depth, transparency, degrade, crossing, creating compositions in solid geometry, drawing and stylize of different plants’ idiosyncrasy, drawing of flying and swimming animals’ idiosyncrasy and making basic design examples with that examples. Also they learn stylization here.

 

TAT104 General Geology (2+0) 2.0

Rock building minerals and internal structres, Earths' internal structure, ground and ground shapes, magmatism and magmatic rocks, sedimentation and sediment rocks, metamorphism and metamorphic rocks, sedimentary environments, stratigraphy and the principles of stratigraphy, nummulites and evolution, scructural geology (folds, faults, crevices), time concept in geology, plate tectonics, geological structures and events in limits of plate, earthquake and reasons.

 

TAT106 Technical Drawing (3+2) 4.0

Design and technical drawing, principles of technical drawing, orthographic projection in 3D, one or two angled projection, artistic drawings and works on jewelry.

TAT201 Jewelry Design I (3+2) 4.0

Studies about full or empty cube or cylinder’s cutting by regular or irregular shapes and seperate little pieces and add some pieces. Drawing wedding ring inside cube, forming the wedding ring there. Chain works inside cubes, triangle, square, ellipsis, round rings’ attach to each others, Simple for rign drawings, Drawing of stone cuts (circular cut, square cut, emerald cut, baguette cut, classic cuts). Technics of putting stones to rings. Set drawings (ring, necklace, pin, bracalet, earing). Encoloring the metals in drawings. Art of encoloring (diamond, ruby, emerald, sapphire, amethyst, onyx, cat eye etc.) in drawings. Drawing of jewelries with stones.

 

TAT203 Principles of Design (2+0) 2.0

Drawing of cubes, putting a cylinder inside cube, studies on cubic forms, examination of daily simple objects in cubic forms, separating objects into pieces and putting them in cube forms, separating complex objects and drawing this pieces in cubic forms, studies on putting cylinder inside cube. Principals of design, formation levels of design, control, developments, expression of visional sensation. Theoretic and practical information about design’s main elemenst  like point, line, aspect, shape, fact, pattern, space, movement, shine and shadow, dark and light, colour. Theoretic and practical information about design’s principals like repetition, harmony, contrast, hierarchy, domination, balanca, union.

 

TAT205 General Formalizing (3+2) 4.0

Creating 3D objects by using different materials.

 

TAT207 Material Technology (2+0) 2.0

Information about machines and tools in jewelery business, following the new machines used by developing technology. Teaching how to use them.

 

TAT211 Computer Supported Design I (3+2) 4.0

The place of computer supported design in production of jewelry, advantages, disadvantages, computor supported jewelry design softwares and practises, 2D and 3D softwares, computer supported design equipments, data transfers, importance of computer supported production, computer supported jewelry design examples. Using programs about jewelry.

 

TAT209 Art History (2+0) 2.0

Information about movements of art, classicism, realism, impressionism, expressionism, general information about movements of art, artist and their features in 20th century.

 

TAT213 Civilization History (2+0) 2.0

General look into history of civilization, early time people, their lifes and thoughts, creation of social unions after permanent settlement and the change of peoples lifes and minds after that, periodizing of civilization history, development of abstract and concrete thoughts, policital and religional thoughts, enslavement and citizenship in ancient Greek,  Anatolia.

 

 

4th SEMESTER

 

 

PSK270 Social Psycology (2+0) 2.0

Social Psycology is a science which studying about people’s behavior in society. While they examine individuals’ behavior inside social and cultural environment, examine social interactions and environmental factors. The main purpose is understand and explain in the level of individuals. Sociology examine their studies in the level of society, social psycology examine individual-environment interactions and behavior of individuals emerge after that interactions. In any department, if the individuals understands the reasons underlying success or failure in social facts and releationships of people, they would be more civilised and they would be more helpful to theirself and society.

TAT206 Gemology (2+0) 2.0

Gemology is a new science department for our country. ornamental stones, which are generate the subject of gemology, create a marvelous beauty effect on humans with the qualifications like colour, brightness and opaqueness,they have.  They are durable against phisical and chemical external factors. they areinfrequent. Penetrability and portability are their other common properties. They are being used for ornament and personal jewelery,collection and decoration. Today, nearly 200 of the rocks which generate the earth or minerals which generate the rocks are used as ornamental stones. A lot of good samples of them are found in Turkey, too. The goal is to gain to the students, who are taking this class, the skill of research the gemologic properties of ornamental stones which are gained from a mineral seam and how a mineral seam and valuable rocks occur, with teorical and pratical scientific methods. the main subjects of this course are; the economics of the ornamental stones, the important ornamental stones of Turkey and world and their determination, quality determination, the synthesis methods of ornamental stones, processing techniques, the analyzing methods which are used for selection of synthetic,imitation, composite and treated stones, determination of gemologic parameters, and the creation of the natural wonder ornamental stones which have specific and shape.

 

TAT204 Aesthetic (2+0) 2.0

Aesthetic is a science that examinete and show the artistic values, artistic creativity and even their human side, the universality of art works. In that class, students learn about the historical delevelopment of art works and the bacis conceptions,with visual subjects. With examinations and articles students  gets a wider line of vision.

 

TAT208 Minerology (2+0) 2.0

Definition and history of minerology, defination of minerals and crystals, chemical features of minerals, chemical bonds, solid solutions, iso-, poli- and pseudomorphizm, mineral closures, pysichal features of minerals, mechanical behavior, electirical, magnetic, radioactive and systematic minerology, silicate structures. Also internal structure of crystals, unit cell, space frame system, crystallographic laws and axles, zones, projections, symmetry, symmetry units, crystal systems, crystal shape, mirroring.

 

TAT210 Wax Pattern(3+2) 4.0

All tecnics that used for take a mould and pattern with soft and hard wax and its practice.

Economy, economical thoughts, definition of economics and its connection with other sciences. Economical systems, population and economic growth, price system process, law of supply and demand, Production, product cost, nature, labour, fund, enterprise work force and unemployment, international work forces, banks and money, inflation, deflation, devaluation, outside capitals, multinational companies, bourse, e-trade.

 

TAT301 Jewelry Design III (3+2) 4.0

Studies about drawing jeweleries with more details. Drawings with actual sizes and teaching the tecnics of that and its practise. Set drawings (ring, necklace, pin, bracalet, earing). Encoloring the metals in drawings(gold, silver, white gold etc). Art of encoloring (diamond, ruby, emerald, sapphire, amethyst, onyx, cat eye etc.) in drawings. Drawing of jewelries with stones.

 

TAT303 Drawing Modelling (3+2) 4.0

Modelling and moulding differents models and waxes in the borders of a theme. After that the product finishes with pouring.

 

TAT305 History of Culture, Art and Jewelery (2+0) 2.0

Jewelery in ancient times, early Christianity perios and jewelery in medieval age. Jewelery in the Renaissance period. Effects of art movements on jewelery. Jewelery since Renaissance times. Examples from world’s jewelery history. From past to today jewelery (Cartier, Van Cleef, Harry Winston etc.)

 

TAT307 Basic Workshop Information (2+0) 2.0

Information and practice about machines, materials and tools that used in production of jewelery. Working dicipline in a workshop.

 

TAT309 Basic Jewellery (3+2) 4.0

Production methods of jewelery, metals, non-metals, chemicals, preparations, scale and test, control of noble metals and composites, recycle, melting, pourig, bacis shaping with machines, assembly and finishing, special technics, galvano technic, functional units, repair works.

 

 

 

 

6th SEMESTER

 

 

TAT302 Jewelry Design IV (3+2) 4.0

Working with best trend companies, creating themes, project designing, preparing 3D drawings, turning this drawings into product, making a fashion show and preparing products for that.

 

TAT304 Modern Jewelery Design (3+2) 4.0

With using trends and materials, preparing 3 piece sets by using different technics. Students separate groups and and for same concept they make individual products with using a story or an object.

 

TAT306 Import and Export of Jewelery (2+0) 2.0

Examination of the sistem of import and export of jeweleries in our country.

 

Production Technics in Jewelery (3+2) 4.0

For helping students to gain experience, they learn production technics and serial production technics that companies use in production of jewelery.

 

Basic Cutting Stones (3+2) 4.0

Simple cut, lustring, falet cut with details, all the stones examine one by one and learning of cutting technics of all stones. All students design and cut stones and create independent products.

 

 

 

7th SEMESTER

 

 

HUK475 Business Law (2+0) 2.0                                                                         

Learning the basics for juridical bases about design. Basic law definations like Civil law, law of obligations, crown law, mining law.

 

TAT401 Modern Jewelery Technics (3+2) 4.0

Melting, pouring, wire drawing, rolling, modelling, remittance, welding, crimping, gilding, grinding technics.

 

TAT403 Research Technics (2+0) 2.0

Learning of technics and ways that students will use in their resarches.

 

TAT405 Preparing Collections (3+2) 4.0

While preparing a jewelery collection what the students need to do, theme and story connection, research ways for the theme, proper drawings for theme.

 

TAT407 Practical Jewelery Design (3+2) 4.0

In that class students need to design jeweleries by different levels of difficulty. Teachers will give the information about the materials they will use, theorical information and visual information.

8th SEMESTER

 

 

TAT402 Dissertation ( 4 + 2 ) 5.0

Students, who are going to be graduated from Jewelry Design Department are supposed to design and produce a genuine ornament, stone or object within the concept of dissertation studies. To present creative ideas, the students should choose the subject of their dissertation without constraint. The support of the advisors is necessary to choose the most appropriate material for the dissertation. Materials of the labor generally have high values. It is envisaged to provide scholarship and reinforcement of materials to the students who are successful and skillful and may have difficulties to supply the materials as mentioned.  After the completion of the dissertation studies with a successful examination, presentation and exhibition in the sector and also the protection of patent rights will be provided.

 

TAT404 Jewelry Design ( 3 + 2 ) 4.0

In Jewelry design, the importance of the place of use is underlined. The minimum weight of an earring is 7 grams. Specific cutting of the stone is underlined. When the stone and the mine combines; to calculate their weights, to give the methods of stone transfixing, the implementation of transfixing procedure, the property of the stones during the transfixing should be elaborated.

 

TAT406 Presentation and Reportage ( 2 + 0 ) 2.0

The edification of presentation and reportage methods of the committed research and application.

 

TAT408 Practical Object Design ( 3 + 2 ) 4.0

In this course, various of stone dressing methods will be broadly discussed. Especially in the working field of jewelry sector, theoretic and practical information about how to use skived jewelry stones, figurative sculpted ornament stones will be represented. Hand tool and machine definitions which are used in production and production methods will be included as well as the operation of maintenance, reparation, restoration. Alignment lustring will broadly illuminated. All the ornament stones under the scope of this course will be individually discussed. It is aimed that the students independently design and scalp ornament and object stones, and produce original creations.
